Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.
And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.
In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders.
All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Where do we find God?
He has made it clear that we find him in one place: humility.
God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. — I Peter 5:5
Humility is the required posture for the human heart to discover God and all that he offers.
What is accepting Christ for the forgiveness of your sin? It is humility—recognizing and admitting that our sin must be overcome by someone greater than the sinner.
What is turning to God in prayer? It is humility—recognizing that His power is greater than ours and that our lives require His intervention.
What is abiding in Christ? It is humility—admitting that we, the branch, will wither without continuous connection to the vine and that apart from Him, we can do nothing.
What is reading the Word? It is humility—recognizing that ultimate truth comes from God and not from within ourselves.
What is following the Holy Spirit? It is humility—admitting that we are sheep in need of a shepherd.
What is worship? It is humility—ascribing worth to someone greater than us.
What is taking up our cross? It is humility—recognizing that our life is worth giving up for the One who gave His for ours.
Separation from God is always the end result of pride in our lives. But pride is the default position of our flesh.
It was the sin of Adam and Eve in the Garden. It was the sin of Lucifer in the presence of God Himself. And it will be our downfall if we allow it to reign in our lives.
God is found in one place: humility.
And only those who have humility enough to admit today (and again tomorrow) that He is needed in their lives will ever discover Him and all that He offers.
